Monday: mandarin tutor for chase and kids madly trying to finish school. traveled to Luohu to meet with the tailors. Not much sleep, lightening lit up the house through the night. For fhe we went to coyote Mexican restaurant with the Tovars for cinco de mayo. Walked to Baskin Robbins and home in the rain.
Tuesday: Brynn finished her coursework! A final tomorrow and she's a fifth grader. Hallelujah. Pon and Sydney came over for dinner. Still rainy but I stayed home all day and did many loads of laundry, started packing and de cluttering drawers. Where does all the junk come from? Todd had meetings all day at different locations. His last meeting was at 8pm on the squash court. Prepared my last seminary lesson of the year.
Wed: taught the last seminary class. I have learned more in this calling than any other, I think, and have appreciated that. I won't miss getting up early and pressure each day to do the next day's lesson. Tomorrow we are having a class party/breakfast. Chase's tutor is coming again and the little girls are going to the primary president's house to do an activity this afternoon before tennis. Yw New beginnings /evening of excellence is this evening. I'm heading to the gym!
Thursday: Breakfast was a success. Chase and I took a taxi to the border. We were planning on going to the temple one last time here in Hong Kong. Chase got detained at the border. We forgot that he has to exit and re-enter every 30
Days, we missed it and he overstayed by three days. The guard assures me they will let him through but I can't see him and he's on one side and I'm on the other. Last thing I saw was a guard leading him away. Good thing we didn't run into this problem Wednesday when we are trying to catch our flight home, I guess.
All ok. They gave him a warning and sent him through. Picked up the seminary completion and graduation certificates and then went to the temple. We talked to some missionaries and headed to lunch at simply life. That's our place. We love to eat there. The desserts are like art. Did some mission supply shopping-pants, passport holder, and treats to bring home. Still very rainy. We hopped on a bus and headed back to the border. Chase went to dinner with a Carina, a date! They had pizza and ate it in the rain...I guess it got all soggy.
Friday: Stayed home all day. The guys went to Spiderman with friends from the ward. The girls stayed in and ordered pizza.
Saturday: Brynn found a snake just outside our window. I saw just the tail. Todd threw some rocks at it but couldn't find where it went. YUCK. To the gym and stinky man was there and wouldn't leave. He was there before me and was still there when I was finally tired of waiting for him to go. I can not run with him in there because I can't hold my nose and breathe through my mouth while running. Todd and I went to the pool with the girls before it started raining again. I met Shane and Brigham at the wet market (always an experience!) Went to the mall...there was some celebrity at KFC, lots of crowds, lights, cameras, etc. Too bad I don't know who it was! Home to make macaroni and cheese for the branch party. Todd and Brigham went down to set up for the party. "Dancing Through the Ages" was the theme. They served appetizers, KFC, mac and cheese, salad, fruit salad and ice cream sundaes. The committee did a nice job. Its fun to see personalities come out on the dance floor.
Sunday: woke up to pouring rain. When Brooke, Brynn, Shane , Brigham and I were leaving for church there were no umbrellas in our house. We own like 50 now so I don't know where they all went...anyhow. I put on flip flops and a rain jacket, Shane went to fetch some from the church and off we went. I arrived a bit late. Chase gave a really nice farewell talk and Todd did a nice job on his, as well. Seems he always has to speak on Mother's Day, a difficult task. Chase's friend Abel came and Todd's work friend Anders and Ulrike from Sweden also came for the meeting. It rained all through our church meetings. Sophie's baptism was next. Ally was able to call in and give a talk. It was great to hear her voice and testimony. Brynn also spoke. After the baptism the men prepared a lunch for the branch. Home for naps, dinner and a skype from Ally. Joyce and Shannon, Raygozas and Shane were here to celebrate Mother's Day. Still pouring rain, thunder and lightening.
We are busy packing and getting ready to fly HOME. We are beyond excited to see everyone, eat, see blue sky and sunshine and smell non-stinky things!
